Other E.U. projects

Besides the mobility projects for students, new graduates and professors funded by the "Leonardo da Vinci" programme and the project "Cooperation between university and companies for economical development" funded by the ALFA programme, other projects have been developed by UETP ALMA MATER within the framework of the above mentioned European Programmes. Some of these projects are listed below.

Leonardo Pilot Project: "University Spin-Off Companies"

• Aims: Compare university policies in order to promote academic spin-off in some European countries and to identify the best practices to promote it.

• Partner contries: Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, United Kingdom
• Status: Completed in 1998

ALFA Project: "Faro-Unive I"

• Aims: Compare and distribute information on methods of technology transfer between university and industry in order to identify the "best practices" in European and Latin American countries.

• Partner countries: Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Spain
• Status: Completed in 1998

Leonardo Pilot Project: "Handicap: To Be Adult"

• Aims: Production of a hypertext, which contains information on the ways and means that can facilitate the insertion of Down's syndrome people into the work force without affecting the productivity of the companies.

  The case studies of 32 Down's Syndrome people who have already carried out work experiences are presented, creating a view of the initial phase of insertion into the work place as well as subsequent phases. It also provides information on the legislation and operation that operate to offer support to companies in order to achieve successful work experiences.

ALFA project: "GESTEC"

• Aims: Organise seminars in Latin American universities in order to diffuse information on the experiences of the partners with regards to methods of technology transfer between university and industry.

• Partner countries: Chile, Columbia, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom, Spain, Venezuela
• Status: Completed in 1999

Leonardo Pilot Project: "EuroAlmaLaurea"

• Aims: Define the characteristic of a European database which allows companies to identify the new graduates with the appropriate skills to satisfy their needs on a European level; collects information that will be useful to universities in order to evaluate the efficiency of their training system.

ALFA project: "Faro-Unive II"

• Aims: Production of a manual on innovation technology management within universities, with particular reference to the technology transfer; development and strengthening of policies to promote the creation of academic spin-off companies.

• Partner countries: Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Italy, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Spain
• Status: Completed in 2004

Leonardo Pilot Project: "International Placement Network Quality Process"

• Aims: Provide students and new graduates with useful information on how to carry out a placement in another country; create and use a database in order to manage placements in companies located in the partner countries; production of a "Quality Charter" of placement organisation.

• Partner countries: Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland
• Status: Completed in 2004
